How to install ReplyRabbit in 5 minutes

Installing ReplyRabbit takes about five minutes: download the build for your plan, drop the ReplyRabbit folder into FreeScout's Modules directory, activate it under Manage > Modules, clear the cache, and paste an AI provider key into one mailbox. The next customer email in that mailbox gets a draft you can review. This page is the short version with the checks that stop the two most common mistakes: installing the wrong build and forgetting the cache.

Before the clock starts

• A working FreeScout install and shell access to its root (for the cache command).
• The right download. A free account downloads the free build; a Pro or Team licence downloads the full build from your account dashboard. They're separate ZIPs, not one ZIP with a licence switch. See Free vs paid ReplyRabbit builds.
• An API key. OpenAI works on every plan; other providers need Pro or Team.

The five minutes

1. Download the build (1 minute)

   New users sign in and download the free build. Licence holders download the full build from app.replyrabbit.app/dashboard.

2. Unzip into Modules (1 minute)

   Unzip and move the folder so the path is Modules/ReplyRabbit inside your FreeScout root.

3. Activate (30 seconds)

   In FreeScout, open Manage > Modules, find ReplyRabbit, and click Activate.

4. Clear the cache (30 seconds)

   From the FreeScout root:

   terminal

   Copy

   php artisan freescout:clear-cache

   Skip this and the ReplyRabbit menu may not appear.

5. Connect a mailbox (2 minutes)

   Open a mailbox, choose Settings, then ReplyRabbit. Switch Enable on, choose a provider, paste the key, and add a sentence or two of company context. Save.

Check it worked

Open a real customer conversation in that mailbox and generate a draft. If a draft appears, you're done. If the ReplyRabbit menu is missing, activate the module and run the cache command again. If the provider you want is greyed out, you've installed the free build or you're on the free plan; the full build is a separate download after your licence key is activated.

If you bought a plan after installing free

Buying Pro or Team doesn't change an installed free build. Enter your licence key on the ReplyRabbit licence page, download the full build from your dashboard, replace the Modules/ReplyRabbit folder with it, and clear the cache. Mailbox settings and keys survive the swap.

Updating later

Once installed, FreeScout shows an Update option next to ReplyRabbit under Manage > Modules when a new version is available, and it keeps the same build you already have. Manual updates work the same way as the first install: replace the folder, clear the cache.
